Free summer meals for kids
Monday, June 27, 2011

This summer, the MedfordSchool District, in conjunction with Sodexo nutrition services and the USDA, is providing breakfast and lunch at no charge to all children in the Medford area. This federally funded program will provide both breakfast and lunch service at Howard Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Jackson Elementary and Wilson Elementary. Lunch only will be served at the YMCA, Glenridge Terrace Apartments, and Barnett Townhomes. See below for exact dates and times.

There will be home style foods like spaghetti, sloppy joe and turkey gravy, in addition to favorites like chicken nuggets, pizza and cheeseburgers. The Healthy Offerings bar is once again featured and efforts have been made to reduce the total and saturated fat in the menus while providing the healthy calories needed to fuel an active child. Fruits, vegetables and two choices of milk will be available to round out a filling and nutritious lunch!
