   Welcome to the 2014-15 School Year!

     On behalf of the staff at McLoughlin Middle School, I am happy to welcome you to a new school year!  Our dedicated staff has been eagerly preparing for the start of the year and is committed to providing a high quality educational experience for all students.

     I am very honored and excited to serve the McLoughlin students , staff and families as we look to a new school year with new opportunities and new faces.  We look forward to the partnerships we will develop with you and we are proud to provide the caring, supportive school experience all have come to expect from McLoughlin.

     In this issue of our newsletter you will find information you will need for the opening of school including Orientation dates and fall athletic notes. Please refer to our website for additional information. Our office will open on August 11th and we will be available to help you with individual needs at this time.

 Come Join Us For Orientation
 

McLoughlin Middle School will be holding orientation days for incoming students on the following dates. If you are coming from Oak Grove, Jefferson, Jacksonville, Washington, Griffin Creek, Jackson, or Howard Elementary you are already pre-registered. Please refer to the following schedule:
 

It is very important that all students attend orientation.

Tuesday             10:00 am - 11:00 am orientation incoming 8th grade students, last names A-G.
August 19          11:00 am - 12:00 pm orientation incoming 8th grade students, last names H-Q.
8th Grade         12:00 pm - 1:00 pm orientation incoming 8th grade students, last names R-Z.
 
Wednesday,        10:00 am - 11:00 am orientation incoming 7th grade students, last names A-D  
August 20           11:00 am - 12:00 pm orientation incoming 7th grade students, last names E-K.
7th Grade          12:00 pm - 1:00 pm orientation incoming 7th grade students, last names L-R.
                          1:00 pm - 2:00 pm orientation incoming 7th grade students, last names S-Z.

 

 
Students new to the school district may register for school on August 18th between 9:00 - 3:00 pm. Orientation day is the time for students to pay school fees including:

                        Book Deposit   $15.00                       Exploratory Fee      $5.00

                        P. E. Uniform    $15.00                       Student Planner       $6.00 

                       Yearbook (optional)    $25.00           *$20 if purchased by December 20th

 
Athletic fees may also be paid at this time. The participation fee is $75.00 per sport per student.      The fee must be paid before a student is allowed to participate. Some scholarships are available. Contact Lisa Keepes at 842-3727 for more information.
 
Once fees have been paid, registration information has been updated and signed by a parent/guardian, students may pick up their class schedule, get their locker assignments, turn in completed athletic packets, pick-up P. E. uniforms, visit the student store and tour the school.
 
Immunizations - If your student has received any immunizations over the summer, make sure and bring a copy of the records with you to orientation.
 
The vaccine “Tdap” is required of all incoming seventh graders. This vaccine provides protection against Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis and is given as a booster dose to children ages 11-18. Check with your family doctor or Jackson County Health Department at 774-8209 for information regarding all immunizations. Student Transportation: Students who live one and a half miles or more from school are bussed to and from school. Children who live less than one and a half miles from school walk or are transported by car.
