Mr. Gary Porter

 

Mr. Porter has been working as a teacher of AP Psychology, General Psych, AP European History, Economics, and Contemporary Issues at South for 34 years. For much of that time, he worked at Mid High, which became South Medford High School in more recent years. Before South, Mr. Porter worked at Oregon State Hospital, before teaching in Detroit, Oregon for two years. Born in Grants Pass, Oregon, and later living in Sweet Home, Mr. Porter graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1975. He got a BA from Linfield College, with a double major in History and Psychology, and a Masters in Secondary Social Studies Education from SOSC (now SOU). Mr. Porter has been married for 39 years, is a father to three children, all in their 30's, and has two part Siamese cats. He enjoys birding, hiking, and camping, and (supposedly) has no pet peeves.

The sense of family and inclusiveness, the team working together, and the care for students.
