Junior Reopening Orientation Information
February 19, 2021
Juniors:
This letter is a reminder that we are excited to see you for an in-person orientation and ACT preparation on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Please attend your scheduled orientation. We are unable to accommodate morning/afternoon adjustments at this time.
BEFORE you arrive:
- Please complete this form: South Medford High School Community Agreement for COVID-19 Prevention
- Locate your student ID card (from this year or a previous year). If you cannot find your card, make sure you know your ID number. You can find your ID number below your photo in Synergy StudentVue.
- For the ACT preparation portion of your orientation, please make sure you have a personal email address (your MSD Gmail cannot be used).
WHEN you arrive:
- For orientation and ACT preparation on Wednesday, February 24, 2021:
- If your last name starts with A-K, plan to arrive between 8:45-9:00 a.m.
- If your last name starts with L-Z, plan to arrive between 1:30-1:45 p.m.
- We are unable to accommodate morning/afternoon adjustments at this time.
- If you requested bus transportation, check this link to see SMHS Wednesday orientation bus routes, bus numbers, times and locations of stops.
- If you ride the bus plan to enter through the black gates near the gym.
- You will check in at either the main entrance of the black gates near the gym using your student ID card or ID number.
- You will check in at your designated location using your student ID card or ID number.
- If there is a line to enter, please stand on a dot, practice physical distancing, and ensure that you are wearing your mask properly (covering your mouth and nose).
- By entering the campus, you are confirming that you do not have COVID-19 symptoms, and you are also agreeing that you will adhere to the South Medford High School Community Agreement for COVID-19 Prevention.
- Once you have your room assignment, you will report directly to that location. If the classroom door is open, you may enter and sit at a desk. If the classroom is not open, find a dot in the hallway outside of your assigned classroom and stand on it. You will remain in this room for the duration of the session.
- If you are assigned to the morning orientation, your orientation session will conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m.
- If you are assigned to the afternoon orientation, your orientation session will conclude at approximately 3:15 p.m.
- At the end of your session, you will exit through the same doors you used to enter the school.
- Buses will depart at approximately 10:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. respectively.
AFTER you leave:
- Study for the ACT test at: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-preparation/free-act-test-prep.html
FOR ACT testing on Tuesday, March 2, 2021:
- Plan to arrive between 8:00-8:30 a.m.
- Bring the following:
- Photo ID
- Approved calculator (see link) ACT Calculator Policy
- #2 pencils
- Face mask
- If your last name starts with A-K, plan to enter through the front of the school. If you drive, you may park in the staff parking lot at the front of the school. You will check in and enter through the front doors.
- If your last name starts with L-Z, plan to enter through the black gates near the gym. If you drive, you may park in the student parking lot at the back of the school. You will check in and enter through the black gates near the gym entrance.
- If you ride the bus plan to enter through the black gates near the gym.
- The check in process will be similar to what you experienced with orientation.
- Your room assignment will be the same as orientation.
- Classrooms will begin student check-in by 8:45 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. test start time.
- At the end of testing, you will exit through the same doors you used to enter the school.
- There will be grab and go lunches provided at each of the exits.
- Buses will depart at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Staff members will be available throughout the campus to support your safe participation in this event.
