Health K-12
New Oregon Health Education Standards and Performance Indicators for Grades K-12 were adopted December 2016. Health Education Standards help define the knowledge and skills students will need throughout their K-12 experience. Standards also provide consistency in what is taught to students across our state to ensure equity in education. Quality health education is characterized by standards-based instruction and provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to lead healthy lives. Health-literate people are able to obtain and apply knowledge and skills to enhance their own health and the health of others — both now and in the future as their needs change throughout their lives.
In the Medford School District our instructional materials for health in Grades K-8 are titled, “The Great Body Shop.” You can find the new health standards below. If you’d like to review any components of the program or have concerns or questions please contact your school principal.
