We are pleased to share an update regarding the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) classification process.
Thanks to the strong advocacy of our families, staff, and community partners, and our collaboration with Grants Pass and Roseburg, OSAA has revised its proposal. The new plan establishes a Southwest Hybrid League, bringing together North Medford, South Medford, Grants Pass, Roseburg, and nearby 5A schools (Ashland, Crater, and Eagle Point).
This decision is a win for our student-athletes. This league structure will:
-
Provide more diverse and competitive opportunities for our students than the proposed four-school league structure.
- Reduce excessive travel time and associated costs.
- Result in students missing less instructional time.
-
Still provide opportunities for us to schedule with teams beyond our Southwest Hybrid conference.
- Promote a more equitable and balanced athletic experience for Southern Oregon schools.
We want to thank everyone who took the time to share feedback with OSAA. Your voices made a meaningful difference in ensuring fair competition for students across our region.
We will continue to monitor the OSAA football classification process as that work continues in the coming months.
Thank you for your continued support of Medford students and athletics.
