Group Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

The Medford School District covers the cost of Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance for benefit-eligible employees. Basic Life insurance through Standard Insurance Company helps provide financial protection by promising to pay a benefit in the event of an eligible member's, or his or her dependent's, covered death. Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance may provide an additional amount in the event of a covered death or dismemberment as a result of an accident.

Additional Life and AD&D

In addition to the Basic Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance provided by the District, eligible employees can purchase additional group insurance by enrolling in the Optional Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance. The insurance provides an additional death benefit to the beneficiary that the employee has designated, in the event of the employee's death.

Group Long and Short Term Disability Insurance

Long Term Disability Insurance is intended to provide you with income if you're unable to work, long term, due to an illness or disability. Long Term Disability Insurance is a mandatory benefit, paid for by the district.

Employees may purchase short term disability insurance (salary insurance) to provide them with income during the long-term disability waiting period (The longer of 90 days or end of accumulated sick leave for which you are entitled to.). Additions or changes to your coverage can only be made during open enrollment. However, changes to your beneficiaries can be made at any time.
