Sept 2019
  • Welcome!

It is my pleasure to welcome you and your students as we begin this new school year.  I am hopeful these pages will answer many of your questions regarding our classroom procedures, expectations, events and current curriculum.  I plan on updating these pages weekly to keep you informed.

The most important concept I will be focusing on this year, across all subject areas, is growth mindset.  I want the students to learn that it does not matter how "smart" they are.  Intelligence is really developed through hard work and resiliency.  Mistakes are okay.  Mistakes help us grow and learn.  Students also learn from their peers.  Students all have different ideas and ways of seeing things.  If they connect their ideas to other's ideas, they will have a stronger understanding of concepts.  If students work hard and persevere, they will learn!  I would like every student to leave first grade knowing they can learn and do anything they set their minds to know and do!

I am excited to have the opportunity to teach your child this year.  If we work together in a partnership between school and home, your child will enjoy tremendous growth during the year.  The basic skills students master in the first grade will be the foundation for the rest of their school experiences.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the year.  Please know your are always welcome in our classroom.  I look forward to working with you.
