Degrees and Certifications:

Principal Allen Barber

I am honored to be the principal of North Medford High School and very proud to continue the traditions of the “Black Tornado”. Long before my wife and I  traveled to Medford Oregon, I was aware of the rich traditions surrounding North Medford High School (NMHS). The current NMHS building was built in 1967, but the history of the “Black Tornado” dates back to the 1920’s. There is a rich history surrounding the “Black Tornado” that includes more than 50 state championship teams over the years as well as many individual state championships. Notable alumni include Bill Bowerman, Dick Fosbury, Lisa Rinna, Danny Miles and many more.

I have spent the majority of my professional career in public education because I believe that public education is the foundation for our society. I hope to continue the excellent traditions of North Medford High School while building a culture where all students can succeed at their highest potential. I was a classroom teacher for 10 years and taught at all levels from kindergarten through post secondary.  I have been an administrator for 16 years and during that time I have dedicated myself to developing and delivering modern and efficient programs that provide quality educational experiences for all students.

I am proud to call the Rogue Valley my home. My wife and I raised our two children here and are now enjoying time with our grandchildren. I am certainly looking forward to my time at North Medford High School.  If you have any questions or would just like to share stories about the Medford Black Tornado, please send me an email and we can schedule some time to chat.
