Degrees and Certifications:
Message from Mrs. Bare
Dear Griffin Creek Community,
I am thrilled to be joining the Griffin Creek community as Principal this year. It was immediately evident as I began walking the halls that this is a special place. Griffin Creek is a supportive and kind community school. We have tremendous teachers, support staff, parents and community members that support our most amazing resource-our students!
We are forever evolving and growing. I enjoyed learning about Griffin Creek by listening to students, staff and parents as we consider next steps to continue to expand on the success we are already experiencing. This year we are in year one of Restorative Justice implementation. In year one, we are focused on relationship building and coming together as a community. We also opened “The Lodge.” The lodge is a classroom within the school open to all students. The Lodge has several dens to support students. The first den is for students who require a sensory break, or to get some wiggles out. There is also a calming den for students who are feeling sad or needing some quiet time to process some of their feelings. Finally there is a work den. This space is designed for students who may need to spend some time rethinking a behavioral choice they made, and considering ways to make better choices in the future.
I am honored to support these opportunities for students as they continue to achieve great things. I have been in education for 18 years. I taught special education up in the West-Linn Wilsonville school district until my family relocated to Southern Oregon. I was a teacher on special assignment right here in Medford for four years before becoming an administrator in the Ashland School District. I served as Assistant Principal and Principal at Ashland High School for 7 years. I could not be more excited to start the next phase in my career right here at Griffin Creek.
Our motto this year is “You always have a choice. Choose Kind.” Our students are demonstrating this over and over. I hope you will go on this journey with us by following us on Facebook, and exploring this website for more information about our amazing school. I look forward to partnering with you!
All the best,
