Fall Sports Information

Mandatory Athletics Code of Conduct Parent/Student Meeting: For all students interested in participating in any sport (Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Wrestling or Track & Field) during the 2019-2020 school year. This meeting will be held Tuesday, August 27th at 6:15pm in the Hedrick Main Gym.

Football:

Tryouts for 7th & 8th Graders will be held August 19-23 from 4:00-6:00pm on the Hedrick Field. Athletes should wear comfortable running shoes, shorts and shirts and bring a mouth guard and football cleats.

**It is expected that all athletes attend all days of tryouts for Football.**

Volleyball:

Volleyball tryouts will be held in the Hedrick Gyms at the following times:

7th graders from 4-6pm on August 26 & 27. 8th Graders from 4-6pm on August 28 & 29.

Volleyball athletes should wear T-shirts (no tank tops), spandex shorts, knee pads & court shoes and bring a water bottle. Attendance at all tryouts is mandatory to be considered for making a team.

Cross Country:

7th & 8th Graders will practice on August 27-29 from 3:45-5:00. All athletes, including 6th graders, will practice daily starting on Tuesday, September 3rd from 3:45-5:00. Athletes should wear comfortable running clothes and shoes, and bring a water bottle. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended outside of the building. Athletes should meet coaches at the large pine tree on Jackson Street near the lower entrance.

 

Middle School Sports Participation Fee:

$50.00 per sport with a $100 cap per student (two sport maximum). Please visit the athletics office if you need to make payment arrangements or apply for a scholarship. Payments, payment arrangements or scholarships are due by the first contest of each season. Failure to pay or make payment/scholarship arrangements will result in the athlete not being allowed to participate.

                                  

Required Pre-Sports Physicals: Please remember, ALL athletes must have a Pre-sports Physical exam done by a licensed physician prior to participating in any tryouts, mandatory or optional practices (Physicals are good for 2 years from the date of the exam). Please schedule your child’s physical NOW with their primary care physician. Medford Medical Clinic will take non-patients by appointment. Valley Immediate Care will take walk-ins for a cost of approximately $45. Asante Walk-in Clinic (located near Cracker Barrel) will take walk in patients for approximately $40.  Physical exams may be turned in at registration or to the Athletics Secretary by 3pm on the work day prior to the start of the season.
