Welcome, Spectators

April 1, 2021

Good afternoon, MSD Families,

This Friday, April 2nd, is the highlighly anticipated Black vs. Blue Bowl! We are proud to announce North and South Medford High School Varsity Football Teams will be competing in the annual game.

We are also excited that spectators will be allowed to attend the event, however, due to Oregon Health Authority (OHA)/Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) capacity limitations, we will be at maximum capacity with families of our student participants and, therefore, will not have extra tickets available for community members. Schools are distributing tickets directly to families of students participating at the event. This includes band and cheer families too. Families will need tickets in order to enter the stadium, no tickets will be available at the gate. We appreciate your understanding! Gates will open at 6:00 pm.

Where to enter:

  • North Medford High School: Gates 11 & 12 on the visitor side (east grandstands)
  • South Medford High School: Gates 2 & 4 on the home side (west grandstands)

Please remember to stay socially distanced (six feet) between families and continue to wear your mask at all times. Also, to help maintain distancing, spectators are not allowed on the track or field. We appreciate your cooperation!

If you do not have tickets, please tune in on the radio or livestream:

  • Live stream:
  • Radio: 96.1/580 The Game and 99.5/880 News Media KCMX. Fans can also tune in to 99.5 FM, 96.1 FM, 880 AM, or 580 AM.

We hope you enjoy the evening!

Thank you for your support,

Greetings, MSD Families!

We received another round of new guidance from the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) on spectator capacity for outdoor events. We are very excited to announce we can now allow 15% capacity at our outdoor facilities at South Medford High School, North Medford High School and Spiegelberg Stadium.

In order to run safely and smoothly, we will be using a ticket process to maintain the appropriate number of spectators at each event and serve a mechanism for contact tracing (if that becomes necessary). Tickets will first go to our football, cheer and band families, but there will be several hundreds more available to the public.  Gates open at 6:00 PM for tonight's SMHS varsity football game against Eagle Point and will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Please help us have fun and successful events by  wearing your mask and sitting six feet apart for those outside your family. Hand sanitizer will be available in the stadium. At this time, our concession stands will remain closed.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you back to Spiegelberg Stadium.

In our continuing work to meet all safety guidelines for everyone involved in athletic contests we have decided to use a “ticket” process for spectators. Not only will this help us maintain the appropriate number of spectators for each event, it also provides a mechanism for contact tracing if that becomes necessary and it allows students and families to determine who will be able to attend.

Greetings, MSD Families!

We are very excited to receive this new guidance from the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) which allows us to begin inviting our MSD student-athletes/participants’ families (these numbers will be capped to meet state rules) to join our student-athletes/participants as they participate in outdoor competitions at our home facilities. Due to the cap, spectators from visiting teams will not be allowed at this time.

We are thankful to our local and state leaders who have made the addition of spectators possible for our home team families at athletic contests.

Unfortunately, no changes have been made to indoor guidance, which affects our volleyball matches. We are advocating for the allowance of spectators indoors and will communicate any changes ASAP.

In addition to the players and everyone allowed to put on the event, we will be including our band and cheer teams as part of the spectator allotment. We will also be allowing each student participant to bring two family members.

The capacity for spectators on our school campuses is less than Spiegelberg as per the OSAA guidance. We will be allowing student participants to bring family members as allowed by the guidance.

All spectators will need to complete COVID-19 screening at the door and attest to being symptom free prior to entry. Masks will be required to be worn over the nose and mouth, hand sanitizer will be readily available, and families will be asked to sit together and distance themselves by at least six-feet from others. Signage and announcements regarding COVID-19 best practices will be made frequently during events.

Spectators will vacate the facility in a timely fashion following the event; congregating at entry/exits, parking lots, or waiting for athletes will not be allowed (Waiting must be done in vehicles.) Staff will serve as monitors to help enforce distancing in seating/standing zones, masking requirements, restroom usage, and traffic flow. Concessions will be suspended.

We are asking our families to choose spectators in advance.

We are excited to begin hosting athletic contests once again in the Medford School District! As we prepare to play, our priority remains the health and wellness of students, staff and the community. As we have done throughout this pandemic, we will follow and enforce all safety guidelines set by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Jackson County Public Health (JCPH) and the Oregon School Athletics and Activities Association (OSAA).

Unfortunately, due to state and county health restrictions limiting gatherings, there will be no spectators allowed at Southern Oregon Conference (S.O.C.) athletic practices, games, or other events. We will communicate any changes to the spectator policy if state or county restrictions loosen or change. We are very fortunate to have partnerships with Table Rock Sports and Stephens Media Group (formerly Radio Medford) who will livestream/broadcast most varsity games for football, volleyball, and soccer. You can watch the games (away games as well) Table Rock Sports is and will be live streaming here.

Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to give our students/athletes their chance to shine despite the current circumstances!

Schedules and broadcast links can be found on North’s and South’s athletics websites.
