-Exhibition for Hex 5. From 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., we will be hosting an open house for the public and display the projects that our students have been working on.

Enroll for 2026-2027:

If you are interested in being an IA student for the 2026-27 school year and you are not currently a student with the Medford School District, please fill out our 2026-2027 Intent to Enroll, and someone from our office will contact you regarding next steps.

If you are interested in being a Freshman at IA in 2026-2027 and are already with the Medford School District or Medford Charter School, please fill out our 2026-2027 Intent to Enroll, and someone from our office will contact you regarding next steps.

At Innovation Academy, we design together, we grow together, and we innovate together. Students are challenged by committed staff and caring community partners who come together to learn through cross-content projects like renovating a school bus into a mobile medical bus, analyzing statistics of our own health and physical well-being, or designing mosaics to represent our identity as a new community.

*Students attending our specialized FOCUS and MAPS programs may be placed outside of their neighborhood school. While we prioritize a student’s placement to be at their neighborhood school, not all schools offer all specialized programs, and other factors are also considered when making these individualized decisions. Class lists will be completed this spring and families will be notified in May.

Common Questions

Is transportation provided for students who attend Innovation Academy?

Can students at Innovation Academy participate in sports and activities?

While Innovation Academy is NCAA-accredited and could have sports teams, it is unlikely we will have traditional sports.

If we do not offer the sport of choice for students, students may participate at their resident high school. Our staff is committed to ensuring student athletes are able to participate in their matches or competitions and will partner with resident high schools to support transportation for those events.

What does a student’s typical day look like?

Students are on a Hexter schedule, rotating projects and Discovery classes every 6 weeks.
Students begin their day in Tiger Time, an advisory class focused on community building, success in high school, and the next steps after graduation. Students stay with the same Tiger Time teacher and student group throughout the year.
After Tiger Time, students head to their first project block, a combination of two core content classes, then lunch, followed by their second project block, a combination of two different core content classes. These classes are combined with 9/10th graders or 11/12th graders.
At the end of the day, students engage in a Discovery elective class they choose through forecasting each Hexter. These classes are inclusive of all grade levels.
