Let’s Talk: Supporting Our Students Through Drug Awareness and Prevention

"It's okay to say no, you know" slogan for Red Ribbon Week 2025

MSD Families,

At Medford School District, we are committed to creating a safe, healthy learning environment where every student can thrive. While our schools work hard to educate, support, and guide students, we also know that meaningful change starts at home with open and honest conversations.

Talking with your student about the dangers of vaping, drug use, and other risky behaviors is one of the most powerful ways to support their safety and well-being.

Here are a few ways to start the conversation:

  • Ask your student what they are seeing and experiencing at school and in the community.

  • Share your expectations clearly and consistently.

  • Provide accurate information about the health risks and legal consequences of substance use.

  • Remind your student that their choices matter—for their future, their safety, and the well-being of those around them.

Together, we can help students make positive choices and reinforce the message that drugs, vaping, and illegal substances have no place in our schools.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students healthy and supported, because the conversation truly starts at home.
